25. And the winner is... “Zako!” “Zako!” “Hour!” The lead Zakos were knocked offstage by a blast of magical energy, and the three kids took their not-so-rightful place onstage. Genkimaru started with, “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Zako Zako Hour!” “It's time to announce the winner of the Most Talented contest!” Rele squealed. Shute was busy searching his pockets. “As soon as I find the envelope.” Rele and Genkimaru nearly exploded with anger, but Shute quickly pulled the envelope out of his back pocket. “IT WAS A JOKE! I'm joking!” He opened the envelope. “And the winner is… “Zero, the Winged Knight!” The three kids squealed in delight. Rele was especially energetic, waving her arms so fast that they blurred. “Ooooo, one of my knights finally won something!” “I interviewed Zero,” Shute interjected, “To see what he had to say.” &&& The Lacroa team, the Neotopia team, and Bakunetsumaru's family occupied the break room and were celebrating Zero's win with confetti and a piñata. Shute hung over Zero's shoulder from behind, holding a microphone close to his mouth. Zero laughed at the goofiness of it all. “Hey, Zero! You won! How'd'ya feel?” “Very good, young Shute!” Zero admitted. “I believe the others put in a fair fight, but in the end, the best Gundam reigned supreme.” “Who'd'ya think was gonna win?” “Hmm.” Zero thought a bit. “Cobramaru, most likely.” Shute asked, “Why Cobramaru?” Zero shrugged, and Shute bobbed up and down with him like a fishing lure. “I have no clue, really.” Bakunetsumaru and Aneko each grabbed one of Zero's shoulders (Baku placed his arm over Shute to hold him as well). “Piñata time!” The two siblings broke the circular piñata over Zero's head, spilling candy down the knight's armor. Shute laughed uproariously. &&& Shute pulled a long, thin object out of his pocket. “I got a Pixie Stick!” Genkimaru jumped on top of Rele's head so the cameras could see him. “I went and interviewed Cobramaru to see how he felt about losing.” &&& Cobramaru was obviously not in two happy of a mood. His arms and his legs were crossed in his chair, and he refused to face the camera. Hoshiko sat on the armrest, rubbing his shoulder compassionately. Genkimaru gulped. “Uh… hey, Cobramaru-san. So… how do you feel?” “I lost…” Cobra heaved his shoulders in what must have been a sigh. “Again…” “Okay…” Genki crossed his legs, settling in for a long interview. “Why do you think you lost?” “I don't know.” Silence. Genki twiddled his thumbs. Hoshiko slipped into the chair with Cobramaru, leaning her head on his shoulder. “Humph.” Genki pointed the microphone at Hoshiko. “What about you?” Hoshiko noticed the camera and quickly choked, going very pale very fast. “I- uh- I- um- um…” “Oh, come on!” Genki grunted, exasperated. “You're his newest tomato, you've gotta know what his problem is!” Cobramaru was standing in front of Genkimaru within half of a second, towering over the tiny Gundam. “What did you say?!” “I'm sorry!” Genki flinched. “You don't have a prob-“ Cobra grabbed Genkimaru by his “hair”. “You apologize to Hoshiko right now!” “Um- CUT!” &&& Genki's face was as dark as his attitude right about now. “That interview didn't go well…” Shute blanched. “Yeah, I could tell…” Rele interrupted before they could go into detail. “A consolation prize will go to Madnug, the close runner up.” &&& Madnug couldn't pull himself away from his new copy of “American McGee's Alice”, the other Dark Axis bots crowded around his shoulders. “Wow…” Grappler moaned. Dom shivered nervously. “Tw-twisted and d-d-d-d-d-dark.” Madnug was in a state of total disbelief. “It's like they took my nightmares… and put them on the computer…” &&& Shute giggled nervously. “He's gonna love that!” “Now the question is, what are we gonna do until the next round?” Genki asked himself. The screen above them flashed, and Melady's face appeared onscreen. “Grab your trunks, kids, we're hittin' the pool!” The children screamed and ran for the door (meaning running around in circles because they didn't know where the door was). “Okay, everybody!” Melady cheered. “I've always wanted to do this! For the future of the Dark Axis!” “GUNDA-MANI-AC! YAY!” | |
