Captain Gundam

The first Gundam built under the SDG's Gundam Force program, Captain Gundam is the main defender of Neotopia, having been granted special dispensation by the authorities to use weapons. The core of Captain is his Soul Drive, a mysterious power source that responds to emotions. When cheered on by Shute, the Soul Drive powers Captain up, granting him an extra boost of strength. Although stiff and naive at first, Captain's interactions with Shute loosen him up and he becomes more human.

His initial form keeps the weapons down to a minimum; he has vulcans, missile launchers, a beam saber, light rifle and light shield.

Mobile Citizen Captain Gundam: Because the existence of combat units in Neotopia is at first kept secret, Captain's Mobile Citizen mode allows him to leave the SDG's headquarters, the Blanc Base, without raising suspicions. Captain's weapons and armor are replaced by more peaceful components, his faceplate opens up to reveal a human-like mouth, and his V-fin flips down to resemble eyebrows.

Heavy Weapon Captain Gundam: A special upgrade designed after the SDG became aware of Commander Sazabi, the Heavy Weapon System adds extra firepower in the form of shoulder and back-mounted missile pods, a handheld gatling gun and a larger shield. Additionally, he can transform into the tank-like GunVehicle mode for extra speed. Captain uses this mode only once during the Dark Axis invasion of Neotopia.

Captain Gundam Option V: When the Gundam Force leaves Neotopia to liberate Lacroa and Ark, Captain is granted the Option V backpack. Option V provides him with the V-Rod, a special snap-together staff that not only extends, but both ends are equipped with beam sabers, turning the V-Rod into a double-ended sword.

Hyper Captain Gundam: After his battle with Professor Gerbera, Captain is sent back to Neotopia for repairs. Instead, the SDG decides to give him a whole new body, and GP01 Hyper Captain Gundam is born. Hyper Captain loses his Mobile Citizen form, since the SDG's mission was revealed after the Dark Axis invasion, and gains a bolder color scheme and heavier firepower. Hyper Captain has two forms, Option F and Option Z.

Option F: The default form of Hyper Captain, it combines elements from his previous forms, such as the V-Rod and his Heavy Weapon gatling gun and shield. New equipment include wristmounted beam launchers, optional back-mounted flight boosters, and a devastating beam unleashed from his V-fin (called the "V Attack").

Option Z: A massive weapons pack, GP03 Option Z is Hyper Captain's most powerful asset. The Option Z comes with built-in thrusters, missile launchers, gatling guns and beam cannons. It was only used during the final battle against General Zeong.
