Things I've Noticed                Sun May 01    Chris Mainards

 So...I've been here for 8-10 months and I've noticed things via apping and 
watching others app and other things. Here's some stuff for those pondering on 
making a new character. 
 (1) -- Maverick Cyborgs can be potentially exciting, yet also distressingly 
hard. They're hated by most Mavericks, thus you need to have a high tolerance 
to IC grief otherwise you might find it impossible. 
 (2) -- Talk with the staff. A lot of the staff are approachable, just don't 
babble to them about random pointless things. Ask them about your character 
concepts when you have a rock solid one in mind. 
 (3) -- Double check with others if you put characters into your 
application(Created by blah blah, brother to blah blah). 
 (4) -- Hackers are not super dexterious. There is a huge amount of hackers who 
have very high dexterity, from what I've seen. This doesn't need to be, and in 
most cases is completely illogical. A dexterity of 6 adequately reflects the 
most dexterious keyboard users out there, basically. 
 (5) -- What you do ICly does not reflect how you are OOCly. Just because you 
have a certain type of character doesn't mean you can only do that type, nor 
that is how you are. 
 (6) -- +monkey 
 (7) -- The RM are the easiest place to start, but sometimes the hardest to 
stick with for long. Usually the RM are a bridging faction that new people use 
to get into the MUSH and other factions. Thus you're going to see a lot of 
people picking up and dropping them. 
 (8) -- Children of Eve, Khan Enterprises, etc. They're out there. USE THEM. 
Even if it's "worked temporarily", /use them/. They're in the background, 
they're thematic. These can greatly help fill the empty spots in your app.

        Well, since I've already gotten three 'borgs to call my own creations, 
I figure I should make it known that Orion Corth is, indeed, a cyberneticist. 
The primary focus of his cybernetics is on making energy efficient designs, as 
well as bio-mechanical designs (that is: the mechanics of a living body). 

        At the current time, I have seven designs that Orion has laying around 
his drawing boards ICly... So, if you're interested in hearing about them, 
I'll give you a set of teasers... The basic design basis and the function I 
think is appropriate to the design. 

        1) Thunderbird: Aerial Recon 
        2) Crab: Maritime Operations

 According to a lot of people Cyber Peacock is available for applying. Arcturus 
didn't seem to say otherwise when we were talking about it and he was 
present...so I guess he is available! 

 So why would you want to be the Peacock? 
 - He is one of the top hackers in the world. 
 - He is one of the only two people in the world with A-Blink. 
 - He is nothing more than a Hologram that can appear anywhere he bloody well 
wants. 
 - He is one of the most respected Reploids in existence. 
 - He is head of computers for the Mavericks.

The following people would like you to app Interpol Power Armor Pilots to fill 
out my Corps: Me, Maiko Kamiya, Max Armour, and Johnny Rosalini. Please app 
any of the following: 

* Serena Gilbert and Kendra Njara. The other ex-Musica, now the new PA Armor 
Corps officers. PLEASE GIMME MY GIRLS. <3 
* Denise Marmalade. C'mon, Denise freakin' Marmalade! (yes, she has a Power 
Armor! and is not technically in the Enforcement division but app her anyway! 
it is a crying shame that we do not have Denise. Having a missing Legends 
character makes baby Yuna, Sera, Gatts, Geetz, and Dash cry.) 
* OCs. Gimme OCs! We have massmade Power Armor pilots, we have lower-ranking 
specialty PA pilots, we need PA pilots with all sorts of skills and 
backgrounds and temperaments... some nice, big, chunky PAs would be nice too 
(big ol' brainbusters like Bridgit Cascio's... COME BACK TO US BRI). We have 
some really wonderful OC pilots in Max, Bri, Johnny, and the late Boxninja, 
but a few more would pad the numbers out nicely. 
* Want fun? App an investigations PA! Best of what I want /and/ what R wants? 
You bet! Have a nice, sleek, arse-kicking PA, but also have the sneakiness and 
people skills required to hunt down bad guys. I'd love to see another one of 
these. 

Perks of being in Interpol: 

* We automatically love you. Especially if you app Serena and Kendra, I love 
you personally. 
* We fight crime! Seriously, who doesn't enjoy that? (Other than, uh, Mavericks 
and Robot Masters. But we don't take those.) 
* We have something REALLY BIG in the works for which a frontline PA battle 
would be awesome. I've said too much already.

Note: Many human beings have the desire to cheat death, to try to live forever. 
Richard Underwood was one such person. A wealthy middle-American attourney, he 
elected to spend his fortune not on providing for his family after his demise, 
but on having his brain cryogenically frozen, such that some time in the 
future he could awaken again after death, and continue to extend his lifespan. 
Richard was pronounced dead at age 77, in all but brain function, in the year 
1999, and his brain preserved in a cyrogenic institude, frozen in stasis. 
Human research had no methods capable of reviving frozen brains...but Maverick 
research found a way. Revived by Maverick cyborg Overclock in a fully 
cybernetic body, and infected with the Sigma Virus, the cyborg called 'Ice' is 
the first in a line of 'zombie' soldiers for the Maverick Empire. He serves 
willingly, thanks to the infection in the wetward that keeps his once-dead 
brain alive, though it's going to take some time before he's accustomed to the 
modern world and its interesting politics. His body must be kept at a 
temperature just above-freezing at all times to preserve his brain, making 
ice-based weaponry a natural fit. Though designed for combat, he has regained 
his intellect, and has an interesting perspective in intelligent discourse 
that makes him far from a zombie.

Note: Yes, this character is for real.
No, this isn't a limited concept. It is now possible to app cryogenically 
revived full-conversion cyborgs in the Mavericks.

The catch? You have to justify why the charcter would honestly be cryogenically 
preserved. That generally means rich and arrogant people...no Philip J. 
Frye-style accidents. Overclock does the reviving, so standard rules apply.

(Oh, btw, since people were asking, app fictional people. Apping a celebrity 
head from the 20th century isn't appropriate. Thanks.)

One thing I noticed. In the Future, there aren't many people with the media on 
here-Propagandists are sort of common, but otherwise, concepts related to 
holotelevision, movies, journalism, and other stuff is a largely untapped 
field. So, here are a few two-three word concepts I came up with off the top 
of my head for a few factions. 

Interpol 
COPS-equivelent star. 
Forensic Photo/Videographer. You could even fit a timestopper thing in there, a 
"playback" of a crime or something.

Repliforce Wants You               Thu May 26    General

        So why should you apply for Repliforce? What is it about this wonderful 
organization that makes it /the/ place to be? 
 First off there's the fact that Cygnus is our Staffer. Cygnus is a friendly, 
helpful and fast staffer who is approachable and usually handles everything 
nicely. No, I'm not sucking up, ask anyone else in RF. 

 Of course, then there's the fact that Repliforce has so many vehicles it isn't 
funny. We're like...the super vehicle place of utter vehicle doom. I could 
definitely go for a Ride Armor expert since we really don't seem to have many 
that can pilot them. Just don't expect to get to use them non-stop. 

 We also have the largest flying vehicle in the MUSH. The Fortress Five is 
built with General in mind, and he's 20+ feet tall and quite wide(And heavy). 
That means the F5 is very spacious and just...straightup gigantic to the 
average person. 

 Repliforce accepts Androids, Reploids and Bioroids. All they need to be is 
capable of being repairable by the systems that handle Reploids, and being so 
close to a Reploid that everything RF uses is a-ok for them. No joke here. 
However, Androids will be handed out sparingly since it's /Repli/force. 

 We have FCs. What's cool about our FCs? Every single one of them is useful, 
every single one of them is wanted. See Splash Warfly? Yeah, I'd like to see 
him. Option Yammark? You betcha. Ten? Pleeeassseeee. 

 Lastly, people in RF are friendly. We get along nice and there's little to no 
angst on the o-r channel. On a side note, what I'd really like to see are 
Scientists/Medics. We have 2 Active, Berkana will make it 3.

Repliforce Engineering Corps       Thu May 26    Shining Firefly

        Picture this if you will, parts of General's armor fall off with each 
step he takes, Storm Owl has to get out and push to get the Fortress V to take 
off, Colonel's sword and punching fist are rusting, pieces of equipment 
randomly explode, and most of the infantry grunts are missing three or more 
limbs. This is the world of Repliforce without its Engineering Corps, and that 
is why we need people to join us. We have Twilight Etoile (medic) and myself 
(senile scientist) and Berkana (crazy researcher) is coming soon. But we still 
need more! Now, I know what you might be thinking. Why would I want to be in 
the Engineering corps. It is boring and you can't fight.

                WRONG!!!!!

It is not boring and there is a lot of variety to the division. Here are some 
generic archtypes. There are others, but these are what I can think of now:
Inventor. You get to create all sorts of crazy contraptions to help us out with 
our cause. We need people to develop all of our cool stuff.
Medic. You get to heal all of our wounded and given that we are in a war, there 
are certainly a lot of them. It is also a fun way to meet lots of different 
people within the factions.
Engineer. This is a little different from inventor in the sense that you work 
on bigger things. Things like ride armors. (you can probably even get to use 
one of those shiny ride armors, but first you would have to make them shiny) 
and our whole mobile base. The Fortress V is huge, and stuff is always in need 
to tuning up. You can do that.
Researcher. Again, different from inventor because researchers experiment and 
look more into theoretical sciences and their discoveries can then be given 
application through inventors. Come on, black hole research isn't that scary.

So, yes. Engineering Corps is great. Anything that is in the realm of science 
(physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, etc) or engineering (chemical, 
civil, electrical, etc) are fair game here. Come on, you know you want to.

The Ashigaru                       Sun May 29    Chet

        The Ashigaru are a new product released by Mikage International, to act 
as a Japanese Defense Force. Each one has medium armor and armaments, with a 
little added mobility (END 5, AGL 6 or so), with faster scouts that have 
cloaking technology, and anti-tank experts with rocket launchers and heavy 
armor, at the expense of mobility. They're promoted up from within the ranks 
based on aptitude, and are pre-programmed with a hatred of Mavericks and a 
strong sense of Japanese pride and knowledge of Japanese culture. This 
violates UN laws about Reploid Rights, but Japan is not a UN member, and most 
Japanese citizens don't care - as long as they don't go Maverick. Each 
Ashigaru is armed with an energy katana and arm-cannon, along with your 
typical assortment of grenades, plus a rocket-launcher for anti-tank troopers. 
If you applied for an Ashigaru PC, he or she would probably be one that's been 
promoted high up enough to recieve upgrades, putting the PC at a 42 CST. An 
Ashigaru would be a Civilian, possibly (but probably not) affiliated with the 
Yakuza, and definitely working alongside the RMs as long as they remained in 
Japan. They look like metal samurai warriors with modern camoflague, and 
function in fireteams, like any modern military force in the M3 world - heavy 
weaponry means a small team is easily equivalent to an entire 20th/21st 
century company of US or European troops. If you have more questions, feel 
free to ask Chet - I'm the one that masterminded this little project. :)

 NA could use some more active people. 

 We could use Active Guardians, who will actually stick with the characters. We 
could use a new Hien, if only so we can say that we have our killbeast again. 

 We could definitely use some WDS, since we have only 2 active WDS at the 
moment. 

 When you're thinking of making an NA remember- NA hates robots. We don't need 
nor want sympathizers, since we already have multiple people who sympathize 
somewhat with the machines.

Profile: The product of 'antithesis measures' taken against a certain Maverick 
Hunter, Shatter Apple has been designed to provide a stalwart offense to those 
that need it most - innocent civilians. Complete with unusual, often hard to 
understand voice patterns Shatter Apple provides a truly fearful opponent to 
the local forces that may oppose him. He is cruel, calculating and monomanic 
in his persuit of destruction. When in the heat of battle, however, the 
Reploid can unusually become calm and philosophical leading to some wily 
Maverick Chain of Command members to make Shatter Apple very angry before 
attempting to have any serious discussion with him. His main method of assault 
would be his pure size strength, and electrical ability. He finds nothing 
wrong with tossing a civilian or two into his internal storage to digest 
slowly as an energy source, or frying them on the spot. His primary attack, 
the Shatter Barrier uses magnetic force to shatter the shined metal that 
makes the mirrors into a bladed assault.
