Friendly Reminder: Closing *FC App Tue Feb 03    Spica

         This is a friendly reminder to all people, either new or current 
players, that although an *FC app closes at 6pm EST on the date it does *not* 
mean that passwords will be emailed out at 6:01pm EST.

         The time is the deadline for any other people interested in the same 
character to have their app in by that time. Anything after 6pm will be 
considered late and not taken into account.

         Appstaff are not chained to their desks 24/7. While the idea was put 
forward at one point, it caused a near revolt and was retracted. Basically the 
admin are real people on the other end of the keyboard. We have jobs, school, 
and other personal duties (like making meals or chores) to attend to. Reply 
emails will be sent out later the same evening ninety-five percent of the 
time, with the remainder due to vacations or a computer deciding to 
spontaneously malfunction fatally.

         Thank you for your understanding.

Most of your boards should be back up and working properly now. If they're not 
working quite right, let the staff know. Preferably by @mail with the specific 
problems. Also, we're going to be shuffling the boards a little. You might 
notice some don't exist anymore, are renamed, or are a different bb number. 
And you will, of course, have to repost any old messages you want up. Sorry 
for the inconvience, but for future reference, edit your ppbosts before 
posting them. ;)

I'll still be around as Sword-o, Retro, and the ever lovable Jet Man. But for

Both Mercury and I will be gone for the duration of this coming week. Neptune 
will be functioning as director, with Castor as the assistant director, and 
Leo as the third key. Any of those three also have full knowledge of the TP 
and can help you with any questions you may have about it. I'll still be 
around, just only very late at night and very early in the morning. So I won't 
be gone completely, just not about a whole lot. :D

Tonight, I'll be acting in the production 'Arcturus: The Royal.'

Translation: I'm your new Civroy. Hi. I hope I do as well as your last civroy 
did, and please kill me if I fail to. Each of you is given one stone now. If I 
screw up bad you're all entitled to throw. Aim for the head, it makes these 
wonderful hollow clunking noises.

On Attacks                         Wed Feb 11    Gemma

Just a tip for people who apply for attacks. It's a common thing I see quite a 
bit...confusion over what attack type does what. This should help you get 
those attacks approved sooner and with less confusion. It has now been moved 
to Board 2 to make it more official-like. Here goes.

Melee. Any attack that uses your character's bodily strength. Hitting another 
character with fists, feet, or a handheld weapon. Wrestling moves.

Ranged. Anything that is 'shot' is a ranged attack. That includes a shotgun 
type attack, for example. Even if the 'range' of the attack itself is not that 
LARGE of a range, that doesn't justify a propelled weapon being a melee 
attack...because it is something that you 'shoot.' A thrown weapon is also 
ranged, even though it uses strength to propel it, and even if you do not 
anticipate you can throw that weapon very far. Sorry for this slight 
injustice, but that is how it works. Thrown weapons that do their own damage, 
such as a grenade...these are ALSO ranged attacks.

Impact. Impact is an attack that uses your speed. You can only justify an 
impact type attack if you are running into someone, or running past someone, 
or otherwise using velocity to do damage. These are the rarest types of 
attacks. What an impact attack is NOT, is using the -scenery- to do damage... 
if you use a firepower-based trick to fling said scenery. For example, 
blazing into a building with your cannon, then causing it to fall onto 
someone, is a ranged attack. Running headlong into that building, and causing 
it to fall on someone, is an impact attack. And probably also rebound.
