New Web Site Sun Jan 02 Gemma

I changed the web site. The old one was outdated and needed the new
information. Plus I cut back a lot on the color scheme and cleaned up code.
Check it out, and, enjoy.
What's not done:
Character profiles, the bulk of the remaining work. When I get them up again,
they'll look similar to the old web site's setup.
The background art is set to a rotation on several pages and static in others.
The list of rotatable pictures is nowhere near complete. Right now it shifts
between X, Zero, Dr. Light, and Blues. Eventually it will shift through a much
broader category of pictures. Faction pages will only show characters in that
faction. If you want to help with this process, I'll post my requests and
requirements for art at a later time, after I have about 12 pictures or so in
the shuffle.
Some information files and additional help files aren't added yet: only the
essential ones and the very easy to access ones. There will be web-only
content but that'll take additional time to add.
If you see any bugs or irregularities, please let me know.

People have been asking me a lot about how I plan to incorporate character art
into the new design of the web site, so I'm going to go ahead and post up my
guidelines for player art. Since this takes up a lot of space, I'm putting the
guideline list on the player livejournal. Point your browsers to

The scripted pictures in the background have been updated today in preparation
for influx of art.
The Links section on the web site only includes, currently, all links from the
old site that are still working. If you have a new link to submit, please send
it to me directly. I had planned to include a set of links for past players'
sites, but every site I had on file is down or unworking. Nevertheless, if you
DO have a link to a past player's site, send that to me as well. The links
section looks a bit anemic currently.

the Dragonroid of Agnor, who had nearly stood up to the vicious Chicken-bot of
Bristol and who had personally wet himself at the Battle of Badon Hill; and

whose names and deeds were to be retold throughout the centuries, the Offircer

Since it's come up once or twice and I felt I should drop a notice about it, so
people will know for sure.
Applications for Interpol and Yakuza characters, as well as for Black Dragon
Striders, go to the Civilians box, along with non-affiliated general civilians
and those who are affiliated with small groups such as HeraCorp. White Dragon
Striders go to the Neo-Arcadia box.

I've edited some of the channels in our chan-system.
Q-Spoiled-whatever has been renamed to the more descriptive Q-Spoilers.
Z-Command-Mission was very obsolete and I doubt we need it anymore. I have
renamed it to Z-Play-by-Play. It now replaces the old "Spam" channel we used
to have. This channel can and may get very spammy; it is all right to break
its buffer. Check out the @chan/what on it for more information.

I have begun rebuilding parts of the land grid.
Mostly, I am redescing rooms whose politics are behind the times, and nuking
rooms that either have no desc or have never been used.
Regarding the latter, you are not likely to notice a difference, since you do
not use these rooms anyway. Regarding the former: do not be surprised if an
object you left somewhere on the grid ends up moved slightly, or back in your
inventory again. Africa will be sliced down to about half or less of the rooms
it was before, and Europe will probably be next. Hopefully this will make
these areas easier to traverse in the future.

I tried to fix these things but redoing the grid can be a challenge.
Progress: Africa is heavily improved. Descs in African rooms are mostly
up-to-date.
Incidentally, if I made an error redescing a room because I was not correctly
on-top of changes RF, Masters, or the like have made to the areas, that will
happen. If the descs are in error, please send revisions to me.

Skinner Armor is not a power armor.
Ninety-five percent of the time, skinner armor is not an armor form.
If you app for a skinner, it is mostly FLAVOR. It may effect how your weapons
work, if you have a borrowed weapon. Otherwise, Skinner armor is NOT donned as
an 'armor form' and does not confer additional stat bonuses. This is
especially true if you are an e-human and would have high stats anyway:
Skinner armor does not confer any bonuses above that.
It is just armor.... not 'ARMOR.' It's generally assumed for NOW that a skinner
is wearing a dead reploid: not a working one who would confer its full
physical bonuses unto the wearer.

San Angeles's no-combat flags have been restored.
As of right now, due to their misbehavior, Robot Masters are /no longer
allowed/ to walk around out of disguise in this otherwise neutral area. These
are the consequences. If you want to enter San An for random RP, you will have
to do it in disguise. Otherwise, use Eurasia as the last remaining bastion of
freewheeling neutrality. Other factions are of course still welcome in San An.

Combat-Related Downtime Mon Jan 31 Mesarthim

In the interest of promoting RP and keeping people from sitting out of pickup
scenes to make sure that they'll be able to attend a planned scene half a week
away, there has been some revisions of the expected "downtimes" between combat
scenes.
If you are lightly injured (~20% of END), you should not fight any more that
day.
If you are significantly injured (~50% of END) or are lightly injured several
days in a row, you should take several days off for repairs and to let the
airplane glue set (whether figuratively or literally)
If you are very severely injured (~90% of END) or knocked out, you should take
at least three days off, and should consider doing a medbay/repair scene if
such is feasible for you. This is bad mojo, and should also provide you with
incentive to retreat (or +retreat) when you are getting your butt handed to
you.
Update your syllabus accordingly.

These apply to V-armor conflicts, /but only for VR purposes/.
Example: Alia sends Alia.EXE out to have a girlish slapfight with Roll.EXE and
Protoman.EXE.
Alia.EXE takes about twenty percent of her END in damage, and Alia has to
recompile the code, which takes about a day.
Roll.EXE takes about fifty percent of her END in damage, and Roll has to reload
drivers and generally make things work again, taking severay days.
Protoman.EXE is utterly wrecked by Alia's superior slap technique, and his
enigmatic operator has to recode entire sections /and/ try to find the
original OS disk, thus making him unfit for net-combat use for at least three
days.
It is acceptable to enter combat in the Real while your V-armor is being fixed,
although if you are personally badly injured, you will likely not be able to
work on fixing your V-armor until you are better.
