This may seem like common-sense advice, but try not to change into armor modes
that don't exist. I know typos do happen, but I've been manually resetting
people out of armor modes all week. It seems to be going around. Just be
careful when changing modes, as if you transform into a null mode you can't
change back.

Maverick Cyborgs Sun May 02 Gemma

All of the sudden, there are four Cyborg OCs in the Mavericks.

When the concept was originally proposed, it came with a limit of 5 active at
once, though, with increased demand I might consider expanding the limit.
Right now there's only one 'official' M-Cyborg slot left...

However...the bottom line is...

App Maverick Reploid! :) Increase the menagerie.

UPDATED: Type rarities Mon May 03 Gemma
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a complete search of rarities by attack type has been run by our
hard-working new coder, here is the current list of attack types, by rarity.
This is to aid in the creation of OCs and to help those who are adding
Weaknesses and Resistances and trying to balance. Types are listed by most
common to least common. In this order:

Blade, Energy, Blunt, Explosive, Fire, Electric, Sonic, Gravity, Ice, Air,
Acid, Barrier, Water, Timestopper

This list was ran keeping the levels of the attacks in mind as well, which
helped us get an accurate count of not just total attacks but which attack
types did high levels of damage. As a result of this method of scan, Electric
is actually more common than I thought before. Blade is MUCH more common than
we thought before. Barrier is slightly more common than we thought before,
though Acid, Water, and Barrier are all at the same relative level of rarity.

New rules: CREATION Mon May 03 Gemma
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This will be going into a news file.

For now, here is the Official Word on robot creation by PCs. Ignore what you
were told before. This is more complete.

News creation

Some science-based OC characters or FC characters occasionally like to develop
robots of their own, or other player's OCs. Here are the guidelines for which
characters are allowed to create which types of other characters.

Androids
Any character with the Robotics skill can build an Android. An Android in this
case is defined as: anything that is robotic and whose behaviors are
hard-coded. This covers the range of robots from a drone-like conciousness to
a fully sentient android such as a Robot Master.

The intelligence of your character determines how intelligent of an android
you can build. If your character has robotics, but is not particularly smart,
he is limited to creating drone-like creatures. Though they have the same
legal rights as androids (that is to say, none), these drones are no smarter
than the average Sniper Joe or small animal. In order to create fully sentient
androids with behavior and intelligence that mimics or approaches mimicing
human behavior, your character should probably have a 9* or 10* Intelligence.
Dr. Wily is the only creator genius enough to build an android smarter than
himself. The non-sentient drone-type reploids created by lesser robotics
experts do not generally make suitable player-characters.

A character with Hacking can, if given the opportunity, reprogram the
hard-code of androids to some degree. A hacker could, for example, program a
foundling Met to do a series of repetetive functions for him, even if that
hacker did not know how to build the Met from the ground up. The more sentient
the android, the less hacking can effect it. Wily's androids are extremely
well-programmed and resist all tampering of this nature.

New rules: CREATION (2) Mon May 03 Gemma
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
News creation, cont

Reploids
Any character who has the knowledge to create a Reploid neural net can build a
reploid. Whether or not you know how to build a net is part of your character
concept itself, not a function of your having the Robotics skill. Knowing or
learning how to build a net can be apped from the beginning, or roleplayed
out, but it is NOT assumed that all characters with the Robotics skill
understand how to create a reploid mind.

There is no minimum intelligence to create a reploid, but the character must
have the Robotics ability and the knowledge of the neural net.

Hacking a reploid has no real effect on it. Currently the only exterior factor
that can effect a reploid mind is the Maverick Virus.

Hybrids
Hybrids are special-case and dealt with and applied for on a case-by-case
basis. Due to their complexity, creation of a hybrid is usually reserved for
charcters with a 10* intelligence.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maverick characters can only build Maverick reploids. Maverick characters can
build androids if they really want. But any reploid built by a Maverick PC
will be a Maverick. The Coalition wants it that way.

The only exception to this rule in history is Grace, who was purposely built
without the Maverick Virus as an example, and then given a choice.

E-humans
Only Ciel makes true e-humans. No one else has this technology right now.

Cyborgs
A character with both Heal and Robotics can do complete cybernetic work. There
is no minimum intelligence requirement for this, but you must have both
abilities if you are going to create full-converstion cyborgs. The amount of
cybernetic work done by different doctors varies widely, and simple
cybernetics may only require, for example, a first_aid/robotics combination,
or a heal/jury_rig combination. However, if you are creating cyborg characters
for play, generally you require the advanced abilities. A team of characters
who combined their abilities: say, one character with Heal and one with
Robotics, could also feasibly work together to create a cyborg.

More Human Than Human Tue May 04 Duo
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay guys, let's go over something right quick:

The average robot doesn't look human, and for good reason. The flare
out legs aren't just for cosmetics, it's a balancing issue, and most robots
even out of armor are still going to have those oversized legs. This MUSH
isn't based on the 'real world' any more than using location names that we
have in the real world. Robots look like they do in the games, also, robots
are /plentiful/. Unless you're in Neo Arcadia, you can bet that the average
crowd of people is going to consist of the following average breakdown:

40% - Human
25% - Aniform Reploids
10% - Humaform Reploids
10% - Humaform Androids
10% - Cyborgs
5% - Other Robots (bioroids, utility androids, drones, oddly shaped reploids,
etc)

Humaform robots are less common because even the robot loving
population of the world fears robots in some sort of way, and there's a bit of
superstition about human looking robots being able to blend in /too/ well with
'normal' humanity. Also, the Coalition tends to avoid humaforms in recruiting
and construction, based purely on their anti-human stance, and many mavericks
feel that it's dirty or shameful to take on the appearance of their
oppressors. There are a few exceptions, like Sigma and Vile, but if you
notice, even they aren't in anyway realistic looking compared to a normal
human. :D

Yes, there are some robots out there that can pass for perfectly
human, usually that robots entire intended function relies on that appearance.
Even then, however, they are still rare, as it's more costly making a robot
that can look perfectly human, and still be able to function and move around
with any sort of proficiency.

Any questions? My mailbox is always open. :D

In addenum to the post that Duo made about humanoid form robots or robots that
pass for humanoid...

Mythforms that are essentially humanoids with wings--Harpies, Fairies, Pixies,
and *especially* Angels--are considered overdone right now and are going to be
very difficult to get approval. If Flight is part of your character concept,
we would prefer using a flighted animal such as a bird or insect. If being
humanoid is part of your concept, mythforms are not an adequate way to try to
bypass the humanoid-form restriction: you might as well just be honest and try
to app the character humanform.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There has been some confusion since I posted the revised creation rules, so
I'll clarify one point. The news file will say this, too.

For a newly built character, being created by another PC is ENTIRELY optional.
Even if your character is a new build, being created by NPC creators--a
committee or a single scientist--is perfectly fine. These rules are only
included for PCs who want to create; doublechecking them and seeking out a
creator is not in any way mandatory for newly built PCs. Thanks!

Skull Monument Infiltration Mon May 10 Gemma
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pluto's come through for us again.

The infiltration code on Skull Monument is near-complete.

If you are an infiltrator, you still have to get fachead permission before you
attempt anything. You also have to make sure there is at least one capable
Master around to pose the defenses for the base (me or a fachead if possible,
especially at first, since even though the defenses are in the room descs, we
understand them the best).

Infiltrators cannot enter the base through the front. The squadron towers, ten
in number, surround the perimeter of the base and prevent this. The outer desc
of the building has been updated to reflect this properly. To make up for
this, any coded attempt to +infiltrate WILL succeed. It will then provide you
with a list of possible towers that are available for you to enter, dependant
on the exact success of your roll. The better your roll, the more options you
get to choose from. The infiltrator chooses which tower to enter through. The
infiltrator may -not- enter through the front door: it's not an available
option right now. To simplify this somewhat, a Master from any squad MAY pose
another tower's defenses if they agree to do so, since it's a bit unsure which
tower the spy will choose to enter through. It's good to have a Master from
that squad present if you can, though. Do not expect to get past the first one
or two rooms you infiltrate through, at first. Mostly they are there for
roleplay and to have a good time, which is why they're so very interesting, so
think of it as an adventure...almost a dungeon-crawl.

Infiltrators are not the only folk who can make attempts on this base. Attacks
from the outside may do harm to towers or the structure, causing power
failures and so on if well-executed. In addition, the Theta and Zeta
towers--tall ones--are both topped with retractable transparent domes and open
to the sky on occasion. (They are also topped with traps of course.) If you
want information about any of this or are attempting any sort of infiltration
or attack, just grab me or a fachead. We didn't put this out here and not
expect to be a target after all.

Robot Masters may leave the base through the front door or now, through the
bottom of any tower. Robot Masters may also enter through any tower. Allies
cannot come in this way--they can only enter through the front.

Super thanks go to Pluto for having the towers idea in the first place, and
then coding it up to the very odd specs I asked for after I dropped down all
these wacky rooms. Coming soon, are coded systems that require +rolls for a
few of our automated weapons. FYI: give us plenty of alert if you want to
infiltrate, but I may ask you to wait until Death Lasers are coded on-line. ;)

An Underdone item!

For human characters: having a set of parents who are still alive. Or having
living relatives of other varieties.

This isn't to cut on the orphans on the MUSH. After all....I play one too
(Overclock). But if it's not IMPORTANT to kill off parents for background
reasons, it would be really much more intersting to keep your parents alive.
Or, keep alive grandparents, aunts, uncles...and use them as RP hooks now and
then.

Just one of those random admin thoughts for people writing OC backgrounds,
especially with more human characters around lately.

For a limited time only...

You can defect from the Mavericks.

This is only possible for Maverick-virus-infected reploids who get the cure

This option will not be available to Maverick Feature Charcters. Only Maverick
OCs will be allowed to defect if they desire. Also, new OCs may be written
with 'ex-Maverick' in their background now. For obvious reasons we do not want
a FLOOD of these, but it's an option available for a limited time and will be
available within reason in the near future.

If you have a current OC and want to defect, alert staff IMMEDIATELY. Send a

Maverick Defections Sat May 29 Gemma
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are playing a Maverick who is defecting, the deadline to get that
application in is this Monday, the last day of the month, May 31.

That does not mean the app will be handled immediately, but it must be in for
certain by that day.

Players applying for 'ex-Maverick' OCs have until June 15 to send their
applications (at least the first draft of them).

Cyberspace: One of the many ways in which people utilize the internet
here at Megaman MUSH, and now a fully created grid of its own to help
facilitate hacker RP.
What is Cyberspace? Well, in the 21st century, the idea of virtual
space being used to help facilitate hacking was brought to life, and developed
from there. As such, every continent and major organization has a little bit
of the web to their own, a kind of virtual landscape where people can access
information and work on purely digital media without resorting to keyboards,
mice, and the other physical constraints of desktop media.
Cyberspace is a tool... graphic artists, hackers, and online gamers
use it, but by and large it is merely a means to an end... the majority of
computer work is still done by people at a desk, inputting data the old
fashioned way. For the majority of tasks, this is sufficient. The internet is
still fully useable from a desktop, as well, and even some hackers prefer it.

What Cyberspace is, by and large, is a graphical user interface for
navigating large amounts of data... you use an interface program known as an
avatar to interact on the digital plain. Some people take to this like a fish
to water, and much of the virtual world is arranged like a real one would
be... cities, landscapes, and all that.
Why Cyberspace? Well, it's in the games. Sure, it seems a little out
there from a strictly technical standpoint, but it makes for interesting
virtual RP. Anyway... there's no way to fight in Cyberspace right now. That
may be remedied, but for now, it's strictly RPed. Anyone can access the grid
with the commands +login and +logout. It's a fairly straightforward
construction, and every faction has a home on the grid. These faction hubs are
locked unless you're a hacker, and with consent-based RP, you can infiltrate
other computer systems and steal information. Major information, however, is
just as hard as actually infiltrating a base would be... and as dangerous.
Finally, being on the 'net has no bearing on your actual physical
well-being. If you die on the grid, you may have to rebuild your avatar, but
it won't actually physically hurt you... at least, not for standard
interaction. Again, that would take a special event.
Also, hackers - if you'd like to change the visual appearance of your
faction's hub room, let me know. I kinda half-assed on their descs, and I'd
rather your input influence their final look.

You don't have to have hacking to access Cyberspace. Any joe schmoe can set up
a simple avatar program. It can run from a desktop. However, you have to have
hacking to do any actual hacking. Otherwise, it's just a really pretty and
very inefficient web browser.

No, Cyberspace does NOT work like Megaman.EXE. You do not use battle chips,
you do not have NetNAVIs. And, apart from Africa, Cyberspace does not resemble
EXE's world at all.

The Boards Mon May 31 Pluto

At the bottom of +bbread is a line that says 'BBS at X% capacity'. This is not
a negotiable limit - posting above the capacity /will/ break the boards - so
we like to keep it down. The limit is based only on post number, not post
length.

We encourage you to post information that other people might need or want
access to, and your ideas and suggestion, so don't worry about being spammy
when you're making IC posts or conveying information to people. That being
said, what we do /not/ want is for the boards to be an alternative for
channels. Posting a short reply to something on a non-IC board, such as a
Suggestion, Review, or other comment, is not really what the system is
intended for.
