Day 15  2001.12.10

Another slow day. We take in the local tourist trap.

The most interesting thing is a real buckboard. My engineer father-in-law and I examine the workings of the steering. It's much more advanced than you might expect.

Can you find the stream hidden in this picture?
You can tell there's a year-round stream because of the trees.

Farther into the wilderness, there's a mine on a far-off hillside. If you have good eyes, you can see the road that zig-zags up to the mine. To the left of the adit (entrance) is the pile of tailings, or stuff they couldn't use.
Mine

This is a small mine, mined by hand. As far as I know it is still being worked.
