I loaded this up once and realized I forgot to add in disclaimer. Don't sue me cause it's in now. Raptor: We don't own SD Gundam. Mel: Oh and Feather Dragon about Shadow. He's Zapper's demon side as featured in my first fic. It's the first one I ever wrote so it's a piece of crap and hard to look at, let alone read. Chapter 5 - Chapter 6 - Chapter 7 Second Beginning Chapter 6 It was dark and raining. Deep within a canyon, next to a clam river is something that seems misplaced. The black clashed with the brown and red dirt surroundings, but even if someone looked down from above you'd never truly be able to tell what it was. (POV Change) I open my eyes I try to see but I'm blinded by the white light My eyes stung and everything hurt, but I couldn't recall why. It was like I fell asleep in heaven and woke up, beaten, in hell. I can't remember how I can't remember why I'm lying here tonight My head throbbed, my legs hurt badly and I could hardly feel my fingers. The pain was almost too much, but my mouth wasn't working so I cried silently, hoping someone would rescue me. And I can't stand the pain And I can't make it go away No I can't stand the pain When I moved my legs a jolt of pain shot up my spine and made my headache worse. I tried hard to cry out, but still it wouldn't come. How could this happen to me I made my mistakes I've got no where to run The night goes on As I'm fading away I'm sick of this life I just wanna scream How could this happen to me Finally I pulled myself up far enough so I could see my surroundings. It was dark and raining, no signs of anything else moving except the water mealy 2 feet behind me. Slowly I try to stand, but just as I reach my knees I fall forward again, back into the mud. That did it. Waves of pain rush through my whole body and finally I was able to let out a cry. Everybody's screaming I try to make a sound but no one hears me I'm slipping off the edge I'm hanging by a thread I wanna start this over again It takes me a minute to calm my breathing and I try to stand again, this time succeeding. Ignoring the pain I make my way to the water's edge, but when I looked over at my reflection. I jumped back, only to lose my balance. I hit the ground again and moan. I don't know why I do because no matter how much pain I'm in no one is there to see it, but I guess it still hurts all the same. So I try to hold onto a time when nothing mattered And I can't explain what happened And I can't erase the things that I've done No I can't Again I crawl to the water's edge and look over. I knew it was me looking into the water, but what was looking back was….not. Even with the water rippling from the falling drops I can still make the image out, but it can't possible be mine. Can it? How could this happen to me I made my mistakes I've got no where to run The night goes on As I'm fading away I'm sick of this life I just wanna scream How could this happen to me Suddenly the reflection's eyes turned red and I jumped back in surprise. The water pulsed and rose up several times before it took form. I stared at the figure fearfully and pushed myself back, all the way to the rock wall. The dark mass advance towards me, trapping me. I made my mistakes I've got no where to run The night goes on As I'm fading away I'm sick of this life I just wanna scream How could this happen to me ____________________________________________ (Author's POV) Time seemed to stand still in that first instant that host met demon. They stared at each other; one a stare of fear and the other a stare of compassion. Slowly, carefully, the demon reached towards his host, but the boy tuned his head away and closed his eyes, trying to block the demon out. “No,” he whispered, “I don't wanna die yet.” At this the demon stopped and looked his host once over. He was in a weakened state; broken bones and fractures, he was obviously in pain. He was vulnerable too, but he said the magic words that saved his life. So the demon reached forward again and stroked the side of his host's face. The boy froze, he hadn't been expecting such a harmless gesture, but he tried to resist it all the same. The demon's touch was so enchanting though that he couldn't fight it and he turned, staring straight up into his eye. Again time seemed to stand still and the demon finally spoke, “I am only here to help you and if you wish to live then I shall not stop you, but I warn you. Once you tell me you want to go on I will do everything in my power to keep you alive until it is your due time. You're memories haven't been returned to you yet my friend and I ask that you think carefully and try to reconsider what you want. I know you Zapper, you won't like this life.” Zakkary's eyes grew wide and he looked at the demon fearfully. The dark figure stared back, waiting for a response. Zakkary found the strength he needed to answer and, with some difficulty, said “My…my name is… Zakkary demon and….I-I want t-to live. Kenshin… told me-told me that it….didn't matter who I was….th-the only thing that-that mattered was…who I am now. I…I want to live…stick it out….for as long as- as possible. I know it will be hard….once my memories return, but I have to try or….I'll regret it because I….I've never been much of-of a quitter in this life. Why…start now? Now that I've almost made it.” Shadow looked into his host's eyes, seeing that he meant what he said. “I just hope you're saying the same thing when you find out who you really are. You'll most likely regret saying you want to live, but like I said I won't stop you now that I know.” Shadow said, making sure Zakkary got his point. The boy glared at the demon, but suddenly his expression melted to a completely terrified look. Shadow was confused at first, but then someone set their hand roughly on his shoulder. Shadows expression changed as well as he was slowly lifted off the ground. The newcomer spun Shadow around and caught him by the neck. Zakkary tried to make the person out, but in was too dark to see his face. What he could make out was the red armor covering his body; long, barrel wings could be seen behind both of the large shoulder guards and on his head, it looked like some kind of tall helmet, but it didn't quiet cover his face. Shadow's eyes were wide with fear as the figure lifted him higher. “Sazabi?! How did you- I thought you-” “Shut up demon. You got away from me once, but not this time. I'll make sure of it.” Zakkary focused and aloud his night vision to kick in and once it did he realized who he was looking at. “Kenshin wait!!!” Zakkary shouted. “Please don't kill him…he's not bad. He was just trying to protect me…please…don't.” “Protect you?! You think nearly getting you killed is protection little brother?! Shadow is a demon that controls your mind and body; he makes you do terrible things. I thought he was destroyed all those years ago, but I guess he was still living inside you. I'll make sure he's destroyed this time though and he'll regret causing you this much trouble.” Kenshin responded coldly. Zakkary was now struggling to stand, all while pleading his brother to spare the demon. “Please Kenshin…he promised he would keep me alive after I got my memories back. He said no matter what he'd protect me.” At this Kenshin looked down at his brother. Zakkary was silently pleading to his older brother and, being a younger sibling, could make one of those irresistible faces. (So KAWAII X3 and the fact that he's hurt adds on to the cuteness factor. Sorry, I'm such a fangirl, please continue) Kenshin tried to look away, but he was already trapped. He'd never been able to resist Zakkary's and Zamar's faces so he dropped the demon. “Fine. I won't destroy him,” he muttered angrily and Zakkary let out a sigh of relief. “But I will do THIS!” he shouted as two red, floating cones appeared and surrounded Shadow in a field of energy. The orb was so bright that Zakkary had to look away and when he turned back around Shadow was gone. “Kenshin! What did you do?!” Zakkary shouted, ignoring his aching body. Then he noticed the jar in Kenshin's hands; inside was a glowing black material that Zakkary guessed was his demon protector. “Oh” he said quietly, sitting back down and resting his back against the stone wall. Now that he wasn't moving he remembered his injuries and all the pain came back at once. It hit him so hard the wind was knocked out of him and the world began to spin. “Zakkary? What's wrong? Zakkary? Zakkary!” Kenshin shouted, reaching forward and catching his brother. He quickly checked Zakkary's pulse and breathing, afraid that his brother might be dieing. Luckily he'd only been knocked out. Kenshin let out a sigh of relief and gently laid his brother on the ground. Behind him the bottle glowed a little brighter, but Kenshin picked it up and slipped it into his pockets. Then he gentle slid his hands under Zakkary and picked him up bridal style. His wing's jets fired up and silently lifted him into the air. He rose out of the canyon and maneuvered through the now clear skies like an expert. Kenshin smiled, he'd always enjoyed flying, but since he had his brother in his arms he couldn't go full out like he used too. In his arms Zakkary stirred and he reached out and placed his hand over where his soul drive once was. That one motion caused Kenshin's face to fall and he looked ahead, realizing something he'd never thought about. He felt so stupid for not seeing this problem before. “How are they going to cope with living with the gundams?” I know this chapter may be kinda hard to read and I don't own the Simple Plan song.
